U.S. Figure Skating SafeSport Program
Northern Kentucky Skating Club (NKSC) is committed to creating a safe and positive environment for our members’ physical, emotional and social development and ensuring that we promote an environment free of misconduct, abuse and/or harassment. NKSC will not tolerate or condone any form of harassment or abuse of any of its members including skaters, coaches, parents, volunteers or any other persons while they are participating in or preparing for a NKSC activity or event. All forms of abuse and harassment are unacceptable and in direct conflict with NKSC’s Code of Conduct and U.S. Figure Skating rules.
To monitor and promote a safe and positive environment, the NKSC follows the rules and guidelines set for in the U.S. Figure Skating SafeSport Program. U.S. Figure Skating has developed policies for its member clubs to help them address abuse and misconduct if it should occur, and to reduce, monitor and govern areas where potential abuse and misconduct could occur (U.S. FIgure Skating SafeSport Handbook). One SafeSport guideline NKSC adopted is that all skaters and parents (for minor skaters) are asked to sign a Code of Conduct form when joining the club. This is to ensure that all members are clear of what is expected of them as a club member when they join.
