About Us

The history of the Northern Kentucky Skating Club (NKSC) is not long, but it includes much success. The club was formed in June 1996, became a probationary member club of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) in February 1997, and became a full member club in May 1998.

Although the club is relatively new and small, Northern Kentucky Skating Club members have achieved much to be proud of. Beginning in March 1997, within two months of becoming a USFSA probationary member club, skaters from the club competed and earned medals at the 1997 Junior Olympics in Anaheim, California. In March 1998, skaters from the club won three medals at the Junior Olympics in Plano, Texas. Commencing with those '98 Junior Olympics, Northern Kentucky Skating Club skaters won National Championships for the next three years.

The Northern Kentucky Skating Club is part of the Eastern Great Lakes Region and Midwestern Section, and is also a member of the Southern Eastern Great Lakes Figure Skating Council.

In addition to qualifying competitions including adult nationals, many skaters from the club compete and medal in non-qualifying competitions around the country. Club members travel to many cities to compete including Denver, Detroit, Carmel, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Nashville, Philadelphia and San Jose. NKSC skaters have also had the honor to be chosen by the USFSA to represent the United States at international competitions including medaling at the 2003 to 2005 Junior Worlds.
