Welcome to the online home of the Northern Kentucky Skating Club (NKSC). Here you will find up-to-date news about the club and its skaters. Please bookmark this site and return often. The club will be adding content and additional features.
It's picnic time! On Friday, June 19, the annual NKSC Picnic and General Membership Meeting will be held at the rink for indoor/outdoor fun. The club will provide hotdogs/hamburgers/buns, condiments, plates, cups and utensils. We ask that everyone attending bring a dish to share. Please sign up at the rink, with the number of people attending, and the dish you will bring.
We will also have the General Membership meeting, discussing the club year and any relevant national USFS annual meeting issues. We will also be filling a number of positions on the board, and anyone interested in running for a position on the board is encouraged to sign up at the rink. All board members must be Club/USFS members.
We look forward to seeing you there.
A huge THANK YOU to our Spring Show directors Stephanie Miller and Ted Masdea and to the many volunteers and participants who helped make the 2009 Spring Show, “So You Think You Can Skate,” a success. The show included very entertaining routines from learn-to-skate through national competitors and included a special treat from our guest skater, Jordan Brauninger. Jordan, it was great to have you at our show.
For those who missed ordering a DVD of the event, you can still do so at www.tristateproductions.net.

Congratulations to Christina Gao for winning the Bronze Medal at this year’s United States Figure Skating Nationals competition held in Cleveland, Ohio. Christina was in third place after skating her short program and skated beautifully to take a second place finish in her long program, earning enough points overall to bring home the bronze medal in the Junior Ladies Division. Prior to going to Nationals, Christina placed first in the Midwestern Sectionals Junior Ladies Division. Great Job Christina! We are all so very proud of your accomplishments!
Congratulations also to all of our skaters who represented NKSC at this year’s Regional competition held in Midlands, Michigan, and Sectionals competition in Houston, Texas. You’ve represented the NKSC very well and we are proud of each one of you.

Skaters for Kids 2008 continued a great tradition for the NKSC. For the last several years, our skaters and guests have brightened the holiday season for children in the Northern Kentucky area by sharing their talents in Skaters for Kids. This year was no exception with the theme Holiday Seasons On Ice. The event was held December 6, 2008, and the show’s net proceeds and donated toys went to the benefit of Lincoln Elementary School. The donated toys provided a special gift for the school’s children, and the money goes to the school’s foundation to buy school supplies, coats and gloves, and food for the students in need. Thank you to Whitney O’Neal, Show Director, for all her time, hard work and creativity to make the show such an entertaining event. Thank you also to our Junior Coaches and great volunteers who helped make this show such a huge success.
Members of the Skating Club, Hockey Association, and friends enjoyed a first class evening of great food, great jazz music and creative auction items as guests of the Foundation in the second annual Blues, Brews and Southern Foods Part 2 event. Charlotte Markovich pulled out all the stops and hosted the event at her house. A huge thank you to Charlotte and Whitney for organizing this event and also to all the committee chairs who spent literally hundreds of hours to make this such a memorable evening.
